Bike Parking coming to Towson Town Center

— Tags: , — admin @ 2:43 PM

I just got off the phone with the PR rep for Towson Town Center (the mall in Towson). They will be installing bike parking this spring.

Previously – Towson Mall, 3 levels for cars, no racks for bikes.

Euro is Hard to come by, Team Quickstep Edition

— Tags: , , — admin @ 10:59 AM

Team Quickstep has gone totally web two-point-oh this season. Youtube, twitter, facebook, the works. If you want to get a sense of how big of an operation they’ve got going on, check out these stats.

In this upload Iljo Keisse and Wouter Weylandt basically have a bro’s-day-off in Ghent before race weekend. In true euro fashion, they’ve got layers of Quick Step team wear on. My question is, why can’t we order those bad-ass euro jackets from the online store? I don’t want a Rapha, Assos, or any other jacket. I want to get one of these so when it rains I can imagine I’m bro-ing-down in a small Belgian city before race weekend.

(We don’t really take public transit)

Obviously nothing useful can be learned from the video. But Keisse and Weylandt have really taught us something today. Those are cool jackets. Even Yvan Van Mol got his own!

Also, has anyone else seen this? Awful.

Bike of The Week : Ben’s Benetto

— Tags: , , , — ratherbebiking @ 4:47 PM

Ben was the first person I rode with in Baltimore. Then he was riding a Felt, now his commuter is this Benetto. Formerly owned by a track racer who eventually broke the frame. It’s been welded by a friend and is now back in regular use (though obviously not at the track). It rides really smoothly considering it’s track-specific personality. Glad to see Ben out riding again.

New Bike Shop in Hampden [?]

— admin @ 10:47 AM

I haven’t made it up to Hampden since someone mentioned a new shop was opened or was opening on the Avenue. Anyone know for sure? I’ll try to go up their later but I can’t find anything on the internet.

Towson Town Center Mall still not providing bike parking

— Tags: , , — ratherbebiking @ 2:56 PM

Since March 2009 I’ve been leaving requests with Towson Town Center Mall to install bike parking. Here’s what you’re forced to do if you want to lock your bike outside the lower level entrance (2nd floor).

Yesterday I mentioned that nothing has changed to the head of Mall Security who said he’d seen someone had posted about the issue with a photo, and wondered why no changes had been made. I have a request in with someone in charge of PR for the Mall. Her receptionist (no offense Ms. receptionist) looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language when I said “Bike Parking”. She also suggested there might not be enough room outside the entrance (trust us, there’s more than enough).

The mall provides extensive vehicle parking. Why not a SINGLE bike rack?
