Summer ride one recap – Hudson River Ride Part II. Part I in a three part Summer Ride Series.
Sixteen LAGCA members from a few different schools turned out for our Hudson River Ride Part II. We met at Union Square and rode across the George Washington Bridge to New Jersey. After eating, we returned across the bridge and headed back in the direction of Union Square. Khary, one of our club representatives, managed to break three spokes (he is our resident wheel thrasher) and was forced to walk across the GWB. Aside from that, all went well. Pictures from the ride can be viewed in this gallery. Photography is available in flash format from many LAGCA rides and events on our club photos page.
Summer ride two details – The Night Ride. Part II in a three part Summer Ride Series.
The Laguardia High School Cycling Association’s first ever Night Ride will begin at 8.15PM on Sunday, July 15th. Lights AND helmets will be absolutely mandatory on this ride. No exceptions. Important : Three glow sticks will count as one light. All you need is one red safety light, of any style, but the more the better. To that end, we will be giving away a prize to our “Most visible rider”. We promise it will be worth the effort. So light yourself up like a Christmas tree.

What was your number ten thousand? I’m hoping for an AC/DC, The Beatles, or The Rolling Stones.
Ten thousand songs, here I come. To music!]]>

Jake Dobkin over at gothamist.com is one of many who respect certain vandals in the New York City – area as ‘street artists’. They’ve all had their panties in a bunch recently because a vandal has been vandalizing their vandalisms. I mean, “sabotaging” their “street art”. Give it a rest. Please. It’s all vandalism.
I fixed a short section of Jake Dobkin’s new story (relating to the ‘splasher’)
The Original excerpt (From the Wooster Collective via Gothamist)
One thing seems clear – there are two motivations that have been driving the Splasher. Attention and a jealous desire to sabotage and ruin the work of well known artists who have gained a certain amount of notoriety.
Here’s my version, with some errors corrected.
One thing seems clear – there are two motivations that have been driving the vandal. Attention and a jealous desire to sabotage and ruin the vandalism of well known vandals who have gained a certain amount of criminal notoriety.
Don’t get me wrong – there is amazing, gorgeous vandalism out there. But PLEASE stop acting like it’s some sacred, ongoing masterpiece. It’s illegal. It’s vandalism, and it sure as hell isn’t worth crying over because another vandal vandalized your vandalism. Peace.
It’s been a long time.
