cyclosity… fm

— cyclosity / Liam Quigley @ 10:08 AM

So word came last night that I’ll have the opportunity for a weekly bracket of air time on the Johns Hopkins radio. Technically it’s not a podcast nor is it broadcast over fm so you’ll have to listen online. Anyway, send me your best ideas for a radio show name by the end of the day and I’ll send you a free CD this week. Extra points if it’s relevant to cyclosity. I was thinking cyclosity FM, chatterbox 2.0, Just riffin with LPQ. Those shouldn’t be hard to beat. Email me, send them on twitter or leave it in the comments.

Grant’s Tomb on March 13th

— cyclosity / Liam Quigley @ 10:04 AM

This is usually my first race of the season. Unfortunately I’ll be getting back mid day and will completely miss it. I know some who refuse to race it because it’s too early in the season (WTF dOOd), others who race it no matter what each year. It’s a great spectator’s race to, especially if you go back and forth near the tomb you can see the cornering sections and the finish line.

Radbot 1000

— cyclosity / Liam Quigley @ 2:44 AM

I’ve been trying to get a RadBot (the 1 watt version) for weeks. The half watt version is bright enough for a rear safety light, but I knew if I got that one I’d be constantly wishing I had the 1 watt version. If you know about the light you’ve probably already read that it’s excellent and superior to the Planet Bike / Knog and other rear safety lights. It uses the exact same mount as the planet bike light but the overall design is slicker.

The strobe / pulse setting is the best. Hands down the brightest rear light function I’ve seen. If you were thinking about getting it – yes, it’s that good. Battery life is a concern, they claim 50-60 hours, but I expect that it will be noticeably more dim after 15 hours of use. There’s also this :

*By popular demand, new RADBOTs feature a switch that must be held for 1.5 seconds to turn the light on/off. This prevents the RADBOT from being accidentally turned on in your pocket or bag when not in use.

Kevin Cyr’s Work

I saw a post on ANIMAL about this guy and his most recent show. These are awesome. I want them all. I want to see his take on a sprinter, this one specifically. Maybe it’s too obvious for a lot of people, maybe it’s totally kick ass. Either way, here are his two best pieces from his painting section and a link to his website.

Bike of the Week – Graham’s Specialized

— cyclosity / Liam Quigley @ 6:06 PM

Graham usually rides another bike during the dryer / warmer months – this is his winter commuter bike. It’s a Specialized Crossroads, probably early 90′s. I think he told me but I forgot. Apologies for the lack of a real set of pictures. I just wanted to get this bike up here. I like the rack and fender combo. It’s heavier than you expect, but theres not much sense in obsessing over that kind of stuff on a bike used in the shittiest parts of the year when things won’t last as long anyway.

Graham Provides more background :

Its a ’95 Crossroads c/o Josh at Light Street, with hodge-podge of components from Velocipede and Baltimore Bicycle Works. I built up the wheels with new spoke and rims, but everything else was recycled, including the reclaimed red cable housing. $200 total. White frame + aqua lettering + red housing + yellow tire trim = a small reminder of how more enjoyable things might be if I was riding under Florida sunshine rather than on month-old Baltimore snow.

The inner tubes as cargo securing system on the rear rack is ideal. Inner tubes are arguably better than bungee cords for securing heavy stuff to your bike in almost any situation, as this picture proves : my CETMA rack with a big ass box on it. You can see Graham’s website here.

Anyone else going to be there? I’m not sure if I want to try to get in the book but I do want to meet the d00dz working on it. Let me know if you’re coming.
