Tornado Ride

Today the Baltimore-area forecast is full of those 25+mph wind gusts. I think I experienced quite a few of those on my ride today among other things. For a good part of the ride I was in drops / or bar tops simply on account of how strong and unpredictable the gusts of wind were getting. It’s also fall. As in, things are falling from trees like crazy this week. Highlights include a rain of acorns pelting me and avoiding a minefield of big fresh pinecones. One photo from the ride that kind of shows how windy it was.

Also, if you’re particular to the hillside drive route between Falls Rd and Stevenson, and you also like riding on gravel in short sections, here’s a cool, albeit tiny, section you can ride to skip the intersection of Stevenson and Hillside.

The map incorrectly shows Cottage Ave as the main thoroughfare, but it’s basically a long driveway that happens to connect back to a parking lot and Greenspring. try it -

You've found one of my favorite countryside bike routes! Try riding out to Mantua sometime and you'll get to ride by some cool horse farms. :)
