Blackberry 8320 WiFi sucks
While the Blackberry 8320 is unique in that it is the most accessible device for accessing wireless networks with T-Mobile as your carrier, the wifi feature really blows compared to other devices. The option to save profiles is nice but not nearly as dynamic as with other devices – the 8320 won’t automatically grab open networks even when WiFi is on, unless you’ve already saved that profile name.
Additionally, Wifi access interrupts calls – if you’re in a call and the device hooks up to a Wifi network, even if you have a full EDGE network signal, you’ll be disconnected and the same will happen if you leave range of that wireless network. Here’s the worst part of it though – T-Mobile specifically blocks functions with certain applications using wifi unless you pay the 20$/month full internet fee – even though WiFi can handle all data types regardless. This means that even though you have complete WiFi coverage, you won’t be able to use any Blackberry internet application (Facebook, Gmail, Twitterberry, etc.). Compare this to the iPhone which actually allows you to make calls while on WiFi using certain applications. Talk about a sleazy practice by T-Mobile.
